The Momota Health Programme has successfully completed the National Vitamin A Campaign as part of the country's nationwide initiative to improve child nutrition and strengthen immunity among young children.
The campaign was organized to help prevent vitamin A deficiency, reduce the risk of malnutrition, and improve the overall health of children between the ages of six months and five years.
The programme was inaugurated by Momota Chief Executive Alhaj Rafique Ahmad, who emphasized the importance of vitamin A supplementation in protecting children's health.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ahmad said that ensuring every eligible child receives a vitamin A capsule is essential for preventing nutritional deficiencies and boosting disease resistance. He also called for continued public participation in future health campaigns and thanked healthcare workers, volunteers, and all those involved for their contributions.
The campaign was conducted simultaneously through 82 vaccination centers operated by the Momota Health Programme. Trained health workers and volunteers administered vitamin A capsules while ensuring safe and organized service delivery.
Alongside the supplementation campaign, parents and caregivers received awareness messages on child nutrition, hygiene, and the importance of routine immunization.
According to programme officials, a total of 47,775 children received vitamin A capsules during the campaign. Of them, 9,165 children were aged between 6 and 11 months, while 38,610 children were between 12 months and 5 years of age.
Officials said the campaign will help protect children's eyesight, strengthen their immune systems, and reduce health complications associated with vitamin A deficiency and malnutrition.
The organizers credited the campaign's success to the coordinated efforts of healthcare workers, volunteers, and the active participation of parents across the programme's service areas.
