The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has cut gold prices again lowering 22-carat gold by Tk 3,324 per bhori within just 24 hours.
In a notice issued Tuesday morning, Bajus said the new VAT-inclusive price reflects a recent fall in the price of pure gold on the local market.
Under the revised rates of 22-carat gold now costs Tk 2,21,966 per bhori (11.664 grams) including VAT. Other rates are: 21-carat gold at Tk 2,11,993, 18-carat gold at Tk 1,82,075 and traditional gold at Tk 1,48,774 per bhori.
The new prices apply at all jewellery shops nationwide until further notice. Making charges will still vary by design. Bajus reiterated that since VAT is already included in the sale price, shops cannot charge it separately. Rules on exchanges and purchases, excluding VAT, making charges and stone prices, remain unchanged. A decision on VAT for silver ornaments will be announced soon.
Bajus last revised prices on June 29, when 22-carat gold dropped Tk 3,266 to Tk 2,25,290. In total, gold prices have changed 84 times in 2026 so far 41 increases, 42 decreases and one VAT adjustment.
Silver prices were also reduced. 22-carat silver fell Tk 175 to Tk 4,491 per bhori. Other rates are: 21-carat at Tk 4,257, 18-carat at Tk 3,674 and traditional silver at Tk 2,741. Silver has been revised 51 times this year, with 25 increases and 26 decreases.
