The event was held at the Upazila Multipurpose Hall under the chairmanship of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Amena Khatun.
Among those who addressed the gathering were Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdur Shakur Sadi, Mohanganj Upazila BNP President Selim Karnayen, General Secretary Golam Ershadur Rahman, Municipal BNP President Jahangir Alam Khan (VP), former General Secretary Siraj Uddin Talukdar, Organizing Secretary Shah Alam Chowdhury, Partner School member Mahbubul Alam, and local farmer Kajal.
The programme was attended by assistant agricultural officers, members of the Partner School initiative, agricultural entrepreneurs, women farmers, community representatives, and journalists.
Speakers highlighted the significant potential for taro stem (Loti Kochu) cultivation in Mohanganj, saying the crop could meet growing domestic demand while creating opportunities for export to international markets.
They also encouraged farmers to adopt safe and sustainable farming practices by producing pesticide-free, nutritious crops and agricultural products to improve public health and enhance the market value of local produce.
The organizers said the congress aimed to strengthen collaboration among farmers, agricultural officials, and stakeholders while promoting modern farming techniques and expanding commercial agriculture in the region.
