A four-day Summer Fair 2026, aimed at promoting small businesses and encouraging entrepreneurship, opened Tuesday in Shantiganj Upazila of Sunamganj.
The fair, organized by Entrepreneur Community Bangladesh, is being held at Mahbuba Community Center and features products from entrepreneurs across the country.
The event was inaugurated by Ansar Uddin, a member of the convening committee of the Sunamganj District BNP and former vice president of the Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal central committee. After opening the fair, he toured the exhibition stalls.
Speaking at the inauguration, Ansar Uddin said initiatives that support entrepreneurs can help reduce unemployment by creating opportunities for educated young people to build careers through small businesses. He praised the organizers and encouraged them to expand similar fairs to other parts of the upazila.
Entrepreneur Community Bangladesh founder Syed Saymon said the fair began on June 29 and will continue through July 2. A total of 32 entrepreneurs from different parts of Bangladesh are participating.
He said the event is designed to encourage the growth of small entrepreneurs, particularly women seeking to establish and expand their businesses by providing them with a platform to showcase their products and connect with customers.
Visitors can purchase a wide range of products, including fashion jewelry, Indian and Pakistani dresses, home décor items, handmade bangles, homemade cakes, ready-made and unstitched two-piece and three-piece outfits, perfumes and attar, cosmetics, skincare products, bags, and children's toys.
Among those attending the opening ceremony were Shantiganj Press Club President Sohel Talukdar, Entrepreneur Community Bangladesh associate Mohammad Opu Mia, Ashraful Mia, general secretary of the Joykolosh Union Jubo Dal, and other local community representatives.
