


Muksudpur Municipality has proposed a BDT 262.05 million (Tk 26 crore 20 lakh 50 thousand) budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year, with members of the Town Level Coordination Committee (TLCC) unanimously recommending the proposal for approval after detailed discussions.
The budget was presented during a TLCC meeting held on Sunday morning at the Muksudpur Municipal Office. The meeting was chaired by Municipal Administrator Mahmud Ashik Kabir.
Municipal Executive Officer A.H.M. Rafiqul Islam presented the proposed budget, outlining the municipality's projected revenue and development expenditures for the upcoming fiscal year.
According to the proposal, the municipality expects to generate BDT 37.434 million in revenue income, including BDT 31.304 million under Component-1 and BDT 6.130 million under Component-2.
Revenue expenditure has been estimated at BDT 36.325 million, comprising BDT 30.715 million under Component-1 and BDT 5.610 million under Component-2. The municipality expects a revenue surplus of BDT 1.109 million.
For development activities, the municipality has projected BDT 263.109 million in funding from government grants and development projects. The proposed financing includes BDT 12 million in government development grants, the BDT 1.109 million revenue surplus, BDT 40 million from the Urban Infrastructure Improvement Project (UIIP), BDT 10 million allocated for COVID-19-related initiatives, and BDT 200 million under the Resilient Urban and Territorial Development Project (RUTDP).
Development expenditure has been estimated at BDT 262.020 million, resulting in an overall surplus budget, with projected income exceeding total expenditure.
During the meeting, participants also adopted several measures aimed at improving municipal governance and public services. These include installing a Citizen Charter and a complaint box at the municipal office to enhance transparency and public access to services.
The committee also agreed to submit priority-based development proposals to the Project Director of the Resilient Urban and Territorial Development Project (RUTDP) to secure additional funding for local infrastructure improvements.
To strengthen the municipality's financial management, members emphasized the need to digitize holding tax and municipal tax collection, improve the recovery of outstanding dues, and modernize the overall revenue collection system.

Special remarks during the budget discussion were delivered by Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Raihan Islam Shovon.
