


Prime Minister Tarique Rahman left Dhaka for Cox's Bazar on Saturday morning for a one-day official visit. An aircraft carrying the Prime Minister and his entourage departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 9:00 AM. His spouse, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, is accompanying him.
This is his first visit to the coastal district since taking office. According to the official itinerary, the Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at Cox's Bazar at 10:00 AM.
He will begin his official programs by inaugurating the re-excavation of 'Patli Khal' (Patli Canal) in the Pmkhali area of Cox's Bazar Sadar, a canal originally excavated under the initiative of his father, the late President Ziaur Rahman. The Prime Minister will also briefly address a local gathering there.
At noon, he will visit the Dulahazara Safari Park in Chakaria to formally launch a nationwide green initiative aimed at planting 250 million trees over the next five years.
Following this, the Prime Minister will travel to Pekua upazila to pay respects at the grave of Md. Wasim Akram, a martyr of the 2024 July Uprising, and meet with the grieving family members. During his time in the area, he will lay the foundation stones for the newly formed Pekua Municipality and Matamuhuri Upazila, and participate in a prayer session.
After a lunch break, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will attend a public rally organized by the Cox's Bazar district Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) at the Chakaria Municipality Bus Terminal at 4:00 PM, where he will speak as the chief guest.
In the evening, the Prime Minister will inspect development works along Marine Drive and the Cox's Bazar sea beach. He will conclude his tour by attending an exchange-of-views meeting with local distinguished citizens at a hotel in Kolatoli before flying back to Dhaka at 10:00 PM.
