Seales' Five-Wicket Haul Gives West Indies 1-0 Series Lead Over Pakistan

Jayden Seales starred with a five-wicket haul as West Indies defeated Pakistan by 90 runs in the first Test in Tarouba, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

Pakistan, chasing 211 for victory, collapsed for 120 in just over 40 overs. The defeat marked the team's eighth consecutive away Test loss with extending its unwanted record.

Fast bowlers dominated throughout the match claiming all 40 wickets.

West Indies resumed the fourth day with a healthy lead after Shamar Joseph and Kemar Roach built a valuable eighth-wicket partnership.

The pair added 61 runs before Mohammad Ali dismissed Joseph. The lower order contributed another 27 runs, helping West Indies set Pakistan a target of 211. Mohammad Abbas finished with an impressive five-wicket haul despite the loss.

Seales struck early by dismissing Imam-ul-Haq, Azan Awais and Salman Agha with disciplined pace and movement. Kemar Roach supported him with tight bowling as West Indies quickly reduced Pakistan to three wickets down before lunch.

Justin Greaves continued his strong match by dismissing Mohammad Rizwan and trapping Aamer Jamal, leaving Pakistan's batting lineup in deep trouble.

Babar Azam offered the only meaningful resistance with remaining unbeaten on 58 and recording his 32nd Test half-century.

Captain Shan Masood, batting with a fractured finger suffered in the first innings was clearly restricted and managed only a brief stay at the crease before being dismissed.

Babar and No. 11 Mohammad Abbas shared a spirited final-wicket partnership but it only delayed the inevitable.

After the tea break, Seales wrapped up the innings by trapping Abbas lbw with the second ball of the session by completing his five-wicket haul and securing victory for West Indies.

The win guarantees West Indies cannot lose the series and puts them in a commanding position heading into the second Test.
