


Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) held a reception and orientation program Tuesday for newly admitted students in Level-1, Semester-1 of the Agriculture Cluster for the 2025-26 academic year.
Held at the university's TSC Conference Room, the event was attended by new students, guardians, teachers, and senior officials. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan attended as chief guest with newly appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. B. M. Saiful Islam and Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Atiqur Rahman. The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Nurul Amin and moderated by Dr. Aminul Islam, convener of the Dean's Council.
Dean of Postgraduate Studies Professor Dr. Md. Masudur Rahman opened the event with a multimedia presentation on the university's academic programs, research, accommodation and student facilities.
In his address, Vice-Chancellor Hemayet Jahan told students that university life goes beyond earning a certificate, calling it a space for seeking knowledge, building rational thinking, and pursuing truth without prejudice. He noted that hostel fees have been made free and that the university has signed agreements with foreign institutions to expand education and research opportunities. He also assured students that ragging would not be tolerated, urging punctuality, regular class attendance and strong use of library resources.
He further encouraged students to build leadership skills, ethics, and social responsibility through active participation in co-curricular activities, research and volunteer work, alongside academic excellence.
Other speakers included Registrar Professor Mohammad Jamal Hossain, Deans of Agriculture, Fisheries and ANSVM faculties, the university Proctor, and hall provosts.
