The Royal Oman Police have confirmed that the four Bangladeshi expatriate brothers found dead inside a car in Oman died of carbon monoxide poisoning. The victims, aged between 25 and 35, hailed from Rangunia in Chattogram.
According to a police statement reported by the Times of Oman, the brothers died from inhaling toxic exhaust fumes while the vehicle’s engine remained running in an enclosed space. The deceased have been identified as Md. Rashed, Md. Shahed, Md. Siraj, and Md. Shahid.
Mohammed Yaseen Chowdhury, president of the Chattogram Association in Oman, noted that the siblings lived in different parts of Oman, including Nizwa, Suwaiq, and Muladah. They had reportedly gathered for a shopping trip before the tragedy occurred.
A friend of the family, Sakibul Islam, shared that two of the brothers, Siraj and Shahid, were scheduled to return to Bangladesh this Friday.
Following the incident, Omani authorities have issued a public safety warning, urging residents never to leave vehicle engines running while sleeping or staying inside cars in confined areas due to the risk of lethal gas buildup.
