Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today assured political parties of a "level playing field" to ensure an "excellent" upcoming parliamentary election.
Emerging from the 15th Council of Advisers meeting on law and order, the Home Adviser refuted allegations of biased official postings, stating that every posting was made following proper verification, ignoring external requests.
He called upon journalists to report any irregularities or corruption in recruitment and postings.
Alam Chowdhury categorically stated that the next election "must be held in a proper manner," contingent on political parties acting responsibly and the public cooperating.
In a measure aimed at curbing crime, the Home Adviser announced plans to lower the SIM card registration limit per person from 10 to seven ahead of the polls, with a phased plan to further reduce it to five.
He also called on the media to help raise public awareness to prevent fire incidents and urged a "social movement" to address crimes like the recent clashes in Brahmanbaria and murders in Rangunia and Rawjan.
