PM Tarique Rahman Mourns Death of Dilara Hafiz

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the passing of Dilara Hafiz, a distinguished educationist and wife of National Assembly Speaker Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram.

In a condolence message issued on Saturday, March 28, the Prime Minister highlighted her contributions as a prominent academic and social worker, stating that the nation has lost a noble educator.

Dilara Hafiz passed away at 1:29 PM (local time) today while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital. She was 78. She is survived by her husband, a son, a daughter, and many admirers.

Throughout her distinguished career, Dilara Hafiz was a pillar of the country's education sector. She served as the Principal of both Eden Mohila College and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College. She also held the prestigious position of Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) under the Ministry of Education.
