The chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force paid a formal courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday morning. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s office in the Secretariat.
This marked the first formal meeting between the armed forces chiefs and Mr. Rahman since he assumed office. During the session, the service chiefs congratulated the Prime Minister and pledged their full cooperation in maintaining national security and stability. In response, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to the modernization and professional development of the country's defense forces.
The Prime Minister maintained a heavy schedule on his second day at the Secretariat. Prior to the meeting with the service chiefs, he held separate discussions with the heads of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) and the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) to review the country’s overall security and law-and-order situation.
Later at 11:30 am, the Prime Minister chaired an inter-ministerial meeting to finalize an action plan for distributing essential commodities to low-income citizens via family cards. His decision to operate directly from the Secretariat—the administrative heart of the country—signals a push for greater government dynamism and transparency.
In his first cabinet meeting held Wednesday, Prime Minister Rahman identified price control, improved law and order, and stable energy supplies as the administration's top priorities. Other agenda items for today include inter-ministerial discussions on river dredging and national tree plantation initiatives.
