Law Adviser Asif Nazrul announced today that the murder case of Sharif Osman Hadi will be conducted under the Speedy Trial Tribunal Act, 2002.

In a social media update on December 22, the adviser confirmed that the move is intended to ensure swift justice for the slain 2024 uprising leader. Under Section 10 of the Act, the judicial process must be concluded within a maximum of 90 days once the police report is submitted.

Sharif Osman Hadi, a prominent figure in the July 2024 uprising and spokesperson for Inqilab Mancha, was shot shortly after the announcement of the February 12 national election.

After being airlifted to Singapore for advanced medical care, he passed away on December 18. The decision to use a special tribunal follows intense public pressure and demands from political organizations for immediate accountability.
