In a massive display of national grief, the funeral prayers (namaz-e-janaza) for Inqilab Mancha spokesperson and activist Shahid Sharif Osman Hadi were held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad on Saturday, December 20. The prayers were led by his elder brother, Abu Bakr Siddique.
The event saw an extraordinary turnout, with hundreds of thousands of people gathering to pay their final respects. High-profile attendees included the Chief Advisor, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, members of the Advisory Council, and senior leaders from various political parties, underscoring Hadi's significant impact on the country's political landscape.
Although initially slated for 2:00 PM, the funeral was rescheduled and commenced at 2:00 AM on Saturday, as per an earlier announcement from the Chief Advisor’s Press Wing.
To ensure safety amidst the massive crowd, authorities strictly prohibited the carrying of bags or heavy items. Furthermore, a total ban on flying drones was enforced across the parliament complex and surrounding areas.
The presence of the top leadership of the interim government and diverse political representatives marked the occasion as a moment of national mourning following the activist's death.
The peaceful yet somber gathering reflected the deep public resonance of Hadi’s mission, as the nation bids farewell to a prominent voice of the "Inqilab" platform.
