


Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus distributed the Begum Rokeya Padak 2025 to four distinguished women in recognition of their significant contributions across various fields related to women's empowerment.
The recipients and their categories are Dr. Rubhana Rakib (Physician): Awarded in the category of Women's Education (Research). Kalpana Akter (Labour Leader): Awarded in the category of Women's Rights (Labour). Dr. Nabila Idris (Rights Activist): Awarded in the category of Human Rights. Ritu Porna Chakma (Member of Bangladesh Women's National Football Team): Awarded in the category of Women's Awakening (Sports).
The prestigious awards were handed over by the Chief Adviser at a gala event held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium this morning.
The function was organized by the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs to mark Begum Rokeya Day 2025. This day commemorates the 145th birth anniversary and 93rd death anniversary of Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain, a foundational figure in advocating for women's rights and education. The event was chaired by Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmeen S. Murshid. Other attendees included other advisers of the interim government, distinguished personalities, and families of the awardees. Senior Secretary of the Women and Children Affairs Ministry, Mamtaz Ahmed, delivered the welcome address.
A cultural programme featured the screening of a documentary titled "Ami-e Rokeya" to highlight Begum Rokeya's work in promoting women's education and combating child marriage, emphasizing that education is the key to establishing women's rights.
