The Winter Presidential Parade was held at the Bangladesh Naval Academy after the training of the 2023rd batch of Navy midshipmen.
On Sunday (December 7), Chief of the Navy Admiral M Nazmul Hasan was present as the chief guest and inspected the pleasant parade and took the salute. Through this program, 31 midshipmen, including 2 women, of the 2023rd batch of Bangladesh Navy were commissioned as sub-lieutenants after 3 years of rigorous military training.
The Navy Chief presented medals to the trainees who excelled in various subjects. Midshipman Syed Tahsin Ahmed received the 'Sword of Honor' as the best midshipman in all subjects. Midshipman SM Abrar Obaid received the 'Navy Chief Gold Medal' as the second highest achiever in the training. Later, the newly commissioned officers formally took the oath of allegiance to protect the country's independence and sovereignty.
At the end of the parade, the Navy Chief, guests and the guardians of the midshipmen who completed the training presented the epaulettes to the new officers. In addition, a special flypast of Naval Aviation's Maritime Patrol Aircraft and Helicopters was held during the parade. The Navy Chief gratefully recalled the supreme sacrifice of all the fearless freedom fighters and naval commandos who participated in the great war of independence.
He said that in line with the current progressive world, as a technology-based three-dimensional force, the Bangladesh Navy is moving forward to increase its capabilities through simulation-based training, addition of modern platforms and innovation of its own technologies. In addition to building large patrol craft, LCT, diving boats with domestic technology and its own capabilities, the process of adding helicopters, unmanned aircraft, and ships of various capacities from friendly countries is ongoing.
The Navy is making a commendable contribution to the establishment of world peace by protecting the sovereignty of the maritime borders, protecting marine resources, suppressing crime at sea, providing humanitarian assistance at home and abroad during natural disasters, maintaining law and order during crises, conducting patrol and rescue operations in the areas under its responsibility under the 'In Aid to Civil Power' and securing important state installations.
The chief guest called upon the new officers to perform their duties relentlessly with patriotism and devotion to duty. Strengthened by the mantra of honesty, proper leadership and self-sacrifice, he instructed the new officers to stand shoulder to shoulder with the members of the army and air force to protect the sovereignty of the country and to be always ready to face any disaster.
He sincerely congratulated the new officers and their guardians for choosing this great responsibility of serving the country as a profession. The parade was attended by army, navy and air force officers, senior government officials, local dignitaries and guardians of newly commissioned officers.
