Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing on Tuesday night for a two-day state visit aimed at deepening bilateral ties and discussing pressing international issues with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
This marks Putin's 25th visit to China. The trip coincides with the 30th anniversary of the China-Russia strategic partnership and the 25th anniversary of their Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the two leaders will focus on expanding cooperation across various fields to inject "more stability and positive energy into the world." Kremlin aides noted that the highlight of the visit will be an exclusive tea meeting between Putin and Xi, providing a private setting to navigate critical global matters.
Putin’s packed itinerary also includes formal bilateral talks with delegations, a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, the inauguration of cross-cultural education programs, and a tour of a joint TASS-Xinhua historical exhibition.
The Russian leader received a red-carpet welcome at Beijing Capital International Airport. Greeted by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a guard of honor, and cheering local students, Putin briefly exchanged pleasantries before departing for his state residence in his custom Russian Aurus limousine.
