


Police have safely rescued a 15-year-old schoolboy and arrested five members of an alleged kidnapping ring following a joint raid in Pabna city on Thursday night.
The victim Indrajit Das Roy Dev a 10th-grade student at Pabna Mahim Chandra Jubilee High School was rescued unharmed and has been reunited with his family.
According to Pabna District Detective Branch (DB) OC Rashidul Islam, Indrajit initially left home on July 23 over a family dispute. After failing to locate him, his family filed a general diary (GD) on July 29. Later that evening relatives found the teenager and were bringing him home. However around 11:55 PM a gang intercepted their rickshaw in the Dilalpur Beltola Road area. They abducted the boy demanded a Tk 5 lakh ransom and threatened his life.
Acting swiftly on the information a joint team of DB and Sadar Police raided the Shayesta Khan alley in Dilalpur. Sensing the approaching officers the kidnappers attempted to flee but were apprehended on the spot.
The arrested individuals were identified as Afnan Ahmed Abir (21) Rakib Hasan (19) Nazmus Sadat Nafi (19) Vishal Sheikh Saad (22) and Sanjid Hasan Supta (19).
The victim's mother Rita Rani Das Roy has filed a formal case with the Pabna Sadar Police Station. Following standard legal procedures, the five accused were sent to jail via court order on Friday morning.
