Braving heavy storms and rain Monohardi Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Sajib Mia visited the severely waterlogged areas of Khidirpur Union on Sunday to address ongoing public suffering. Directed by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M. A. Muhaimin Al Jihan the AC Land inspected West Montola and Kalirchar villages to assess failing infrastructure.
During the visit locals voiced deep frustration over a culvert on the Kalirchar–Bhauwalia Para road, which has been left unfinished for three years. Because construction has also begun on a second culvert along the only alternative route Bhauwalia Para residents are now virtually cut off from vehicular access. This has severely disrupted emergency medical transport, agricultural supply chains, and school commutes—a crisis exacerbated by the monsoon.
Additionally residents raised allegations of irregularities in the construction of the new Kalirchar Government Primary School building noting that the school's field is currently submerged in rainwater.
Listening to the community’s grievances AC Land Sajib Mia assured immediate administrative action. He committed to resolving the waterlogging in West Montola, expediting the unfinished culvert to restore road connectivity and draining the primary school grounds. Furthermore he pledged a thorough investigation into the alleged construction irregularities at the school.
The inspection was attended by local Union Parishad members upazila officials and local journalists. Residents now look to the upazila administration for prompt execution to end their prolonged hardships.
