


The District Narcotics Control Department has arrested four people with yaba and marijuana in Lohagara upazila of Narail. Later, a mobile court awarded them different terms of imprisonment and fines.
They were arrested from the Panchuria and Erenda bus stand areas of the upazila on Thursday (July 9) afternoon.
Inspector of the Narail District Narcotics Control Department Abdul Mannan confirmed the matter.
The convicts are: Md. Raja Mia Sheikh, son of the deceased Md. of Paddabila village of Kashipur union of Lohagara upazila; Nahid Sheikh (28), Saif Sheikh (23), son of Oliyar Sheikh of Ishangati village, Yusuf Sheikh (42), son of the deceased Chan Mia Sheikh of Panchuria village in the upazila, and Binoy Sarkar (37), son of Sameer Sarkar of Kalagachhi village.
The Narcotics Control Department said that on Thursday afternoon, in a separate operation, Yusuf Sheikh was arrested from Panchuria in the upazila with 50 grams of ganja, Nahid Sheikh with 55 pieces of yaba from Erenda bus stand area, Saif Sheikh with 2 pieces of yaba and a person named Binoy Sarkar with 2 pieces of yaba. Later, when they were taken to the mobile court, the judge sentenced Yusuf Sheikh to 2 months of simple imprisonment and a fine of 2,000 taka, Nahid Sheikh to 5 months of simple imprisonment and a fine of 39,000 taka, Saif Sheikh to 1 month of simple imprisonment and a fine of 1,000 taka, and Binoy Sarkar to 1 month of simple imprisonment and a fine of 1,000 taka.
Abdul Mannan, inspector of the Narail District Narcotics Control Department, said that after being arrested with drugs, the four people were taken to a mobile court and the judge sentenced them to various terms of imprisonment and fines. Later, they were sent to the district jail.
