The Workers' Union Council (SCOP) has observed a mass hunger strike demanding cancellation of the decision to lease the terminal of Chittagong Port.

The program was held in front of the Chittagong Press Club on Saturday (November 1) from 9 am to 4 pm. During this, the SCOP leaders said that as the main seaport of the country, Chittagong Port is being successfully operated with its own capacity.

There is no need for a foreign operator here. SCOP Joint Coordinator Rizwanur Rahman Khan said that Chittagong Port is running well under its own management. This institution makes a profit of more than 2500 crore taka annually.

There is no reason to hand over the management of such a profitable institution to foreigners. The government must back down from this decision.
