


A youth was arrested with 7,855 yaba tablets while transporting the drugs from Cox's Bazar to Chittagong on a motorcycle. Members of RAB-7 detained him at a checkpoint in the Bahaddarhat area and seized the motorcycle used in the smuggling attempt.
The information was confirmed in a press release issued on Thursday (June 11) by RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) A.R.M. Mozaffar Hossain.
According to the release, RAB received intelligence that a large shipment of yaba was being transported into Chittagong city from Cox's Bazar by motorcycle. Based on the information, a temporary checkpoint was set up on Wednesday at around 7:15 pm in front of Khaja Motor Parts, opposite Pepsi Cola, in the Bahaddarhat area under Chandgaon Police Station.
During the operation, RAB members stopped a suspicious motorcycle and searched it. The rider, Rimon Dhar (28), a resident of the Srikul area of Ramu Upazila in Cox's Bazar, was arrested.
RAB said 7,855 yaba tablets were recovered from four bundles wrapped in black tape and concealed beneath the motorcycle seat. The estimated market value of the seized drugs is about Tk 23.57 lakh.
The arrested suspect, the recovered yaba tablets, and the seized motorcycle were handed over to Chandgaon Police Station for legal action under the Narcotics Control Act.
