


The burial of Senior Warrant Officer Md. Mohiuddin Chapal, a Bangladesh Army official who died while serving in a UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan, has been completed in his hometown of Lalmohan, Bhola.
Following a funeral prayer at his home, he was laid to rest in his family graveyard in the Faraji Bazar area of Kalma Union at 5:30 PM on Saturday (June 6). Earlier, at 3:00 PM, his body was flown to the Lalmohan Government College grounds by an army helicopter before being transported to his village.
Prior to the burial, Mohiuddin received full military honors. Army Major Aqib Hasan, who escorted the body from the mission, led the posthumous salute. A 13-member military delegation, including Lieutenant Omar Farooq of the Barisal-46 Bir Battalion, was present to pay their final respects.
Md. Mohiuddin Chapal, son of former UP member Delwar Hossain, deployed to South Sudan on a peacekeeping mission two months ago. During his deployment, he was diagnosed with cancer. He passed away on May 30 while undergoing treatment at the Kampala Level-3 Hospital in Uganda. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
