Allegations of serious irregularities and negligence have emerged in the CTCRP project work under Paikgachha Municipality in Khulna. On Tuesday at around 8:28 pm, linton casting work was seen continuing in complete darkness without adequate lighting. No responsible engineer, main contractor, or municipal representative was present at the site during the work.
A visit to the area near the gate beside Ahed Ali’s enclosure behind the municipality’s saline water center in Ward No. 2 showed workers continuing the casting work without visible technical supervision.
When asked, contractor representative Aminur Rahman said, “We are working at night because of tidal conditions.”
However, local residents raised concerns over maintaining quality standards during such sensitive construction work in darkness and without engineers on site.
According to sources familiar with construction procedures, maintaining the correct ratio of cement, sand, and stone chips is essential during linton casting. They warned that carrying out the work without proper lighting and supervision could affect the durability of the project.
Attempts were made several times to contact the municipality’s acting executive engineer, Nur Ahmad, for comment, but he did not respond.
The incident has raised questions among residents about oversight and accountability in the government-funded project. Locals have called for immediate intervention by higher authorities to ensure transparency and quality in the construction work.
