Selim and Babar Appointed to the Regent Board of Gopalganj Science and Technology University

Md. Selimuzzaman Molla (Selim), Member of Parliament from Gopalganj-1 and Joint Organizing Secretary of the BNP National Executive Committee, along with Dr. K M Babar, Member of Parliament from Gopalganj-2, have been nominated as new members of the Regent Board of Gopalganj Science and Technology University. Concerned stakeholders believe that their appointment will play a significant role in the advancement of higher education and the overall development of the university.

The appointment was officially announced through a government gazette issued on May 4, 2026. According to the notification signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Nibir Ranjan Talukdar, they were nominated to the Regent Board under Section 18(1)(Gh) of the Gopalganj Science and Technology University Act, 2001.

The gazette further stated that the nomination was made with the approval of the Honorable Leader of the House and the Prime Minister. The Regent Board plays a direct role in important matters including policy-making, academic development, administrative supervision, and infrastructural advancement of the university.

According to relevant circles, the political experience and organizational skills of MP Selimuzzaman Molla (Selim), along with the public-oriented and development-focused vision of MP Dr. K M Babar, will contribute positively to the implementation of the university’s future plans. Their guidance is also expected to support the expansion of research activities and the development of a modern, technology-based educational environment.

Teachers, students, and members of the conscious community have congratulated the newly appointed board members. They expressed hope that the active participation of the two MPs will help enrich the university’s academic and research sectors and transform it into one of the country’s most promising higher education institutions.
