The Karnaphuli Tunnel in Chattogram will see special traffic arrangements for four nights as part of scheduled maintenance work. During this period the two-way traffic will run through a single tube instead of the usual two, potentially causing delays of up to 10 minutes during heavy traffic.
The Bangladesh Bridge Authority announced the plan in a press release signed by Deputy Director (Public Relations) Md. Masud Rana Sikder on Tuesday.
According to the release, maintenance work will take place nightly from 11 pm to 5 am from July 28 to 31. During these hours, vehicles will travel in both directions alternately through either the Patenga-Anowara or Anowara-Patenga tube.
Authorities said traffic may be temporarily controlled at both ends of the tunnel if vehicle volume is high, leading to waits of five to ten minutes.
The Bridge Authority has urged drivers and passengers to remain patient and follow officials' instructions to ensure the maintenance work is completed safely and smoothly.
