A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck China's Qinghai province early Tuesday.
A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck China's Qinghai province early Tuesday.

A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck China's western Qinghai province early Tuesday, according to Germany's GEOFON seismic monitoring network.

The quake hit at 03:34 GMT with its epicenter located at 99.54°E, 35.36°N. GEOFON recorded a shallow depth of 10 kilometers (6.21 miles) a factor that can intensify shaking near the epicenter.

Chinese authorities have not reported any casualties, injuries, or damage so far.
