6 Transformer Thieves Arrested in Pabna DB Police Raid

The Pabna District Detective Branch (DB) has arrested six members of an organized gang responsible for stealing electrical transformers across the district.

The arrests stem from an investigation into the July 10 theft of a 10 kV transformer from a BIWTC agricultural irrigation project in Char Keshabpur under Dogachhi Union.

During a press briefing at the Pabna Police Superintendent's office on Monday afternoon, authorities confirmed that a combination of digital surveillance and confidential intelligence led to the successful raid.

Based on information provided by the suspects during interrogation, police recovered various stolen transformer components, including copper wire, coils and tin core plates. Officers also seized the tools used to dismantle the equipment, such as gas cutters, hacksaws, wrenches and pliers.

Police revealed that the gang had been systematically targeting regional power infrastructure for an extended period, dismantling transformers to illegally sell the valuable copper parts. Legal proceedings have been initiated and the suspects are being processed for transfer to jail.

Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sufi described the arrests and recoveries as a crucial victory for the security of the region's agricultural and power networks. He assured the public that police operations will continue to identify and apprehend any remaining members of the criminal syndicate.
