A fifth-grade student was injured after a ceiling fan fell on his head during class at Pabna Police Lines School on Thursday morning.
The injured student was identified as 10-year-old Tamjid, son of Fazlul Haque from the Ananta area of Pabna municipality.
School sources said the incident occurred around 10:35 AM in room 403 on the school's second floor, just minutes after the post-tiffin class had begun. The running ceiling fan suddenly detached and fell directly onto Tamjid, causing deep lacerations to his head.
Teachers rushed him to Pabna General Hospital, where he received emergency medical treatment and stitches.
Mahbub Alam, the acting headmaster of Pabna Police Lines School, confirmed the incident. "We immediately rushed the child to the hospital for first aid. We have handed him over to his family along with the necessary prescriptions and medicines," he said. He added that the student's father recognized it as a freak accident and lodged no formal complaint.
Addressing school safety, the headmaster claimed, "We regularly inspect our electrical equipment. Following this unfortunate incident, we are re-checking every fan across the campus and replacing any faulty units immediately."
Established under police management, Pabna Police Lines School currently enrolls roughly 1,600 students across its primary and secondary wings.
