A learning and experience exchange meeting was held in Paikgachha, Khulna, to address the growing threat of plastic and polythene pollution in the Sundarbans.
The event took place Monday morning, April 20, at the Officers Club Auditorium. Organized by the non-governmental organization Rupantor under its Sundarban Protection Project, the meeting brought together educators, journalists, and youth activists.
Saki Rezwana, Project Officer at Rupantor, opened the session by outlining the project's initiatives to safeguard the mangrove forest. Speakers—including Acting Principal Manik Chandra Ghosh, Corruption Prevention Committee President Rahima Akhter Shampa, and Sundarban Journalist Forum Joint Convener Abdul Aziz—emphasized the urgent need for local action to curb waste.
The discussion concluded with a commitment to implement stricter measures against plastic use in the forest periphery. The program was moderated by Rakibul Islam, President of Youth for Sundarbans, with various youth leaders in attendance.
