Prime Minister Tarique Rahman handed appointment letters to three individuals with disabilities on Thursday morning at the Bangladesh Secretariat advancing a government initiative to promote self-reliance through inclusive employment.

The appointees—Aisha Akhter Nila Khatun and Md. Hasmat Ali—overcame significant physical challenges to achieve academic and professional success.

Both Nila Khatun from Kamarkhand Sirajganj and Aisha Akhter from Saghata, Gaibandha were born without hands. Despite this both completed their postgraduate studies by writing with their feet. Nila will now serve as a teacher at the National Disabled Development Foundation in Mirpur Dhaka. Aisha who accepted her official letter using her mouth has been appointed as a class supervisor at Biam Laboratory School and College in Gaibandha.

Additionally visually impaired Md. Hasmat Ali from Narail Sadar was appointed as a union social worker under the Department of Social Services.

Ministry officials emphasized that this initiative aims to integrate individuals with disabilities into mainstream society and empower them economically.

Social Welfare Minister Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Farzana Sharmin Putul, and other senior department officials attended the ceremony. Following the event Abdus Sattar Dulal, founder of the Bangladesh Protibandhi Kalyan Samity met with the Prime Minister to express his gratitude, noting that such measures will significantly boost social inclusion for people with disabilities across the country.
