Mohammad Koysar Ahmed, Member of Parliament for Sunamganj-3 assured the public on Saturday that there is no fuel oil crisis in Bangladesh.
Speaking to reporters during a paddy harvesting festival at Bora Haor in Dargapasha Union, he emphasized that the government is managing reserves strategically.
"Fuel prices have surged globally, affecting Europe, America, and the Middle East," the MP noted. "However, the Prime Minister has refrained from raising prices here to protect our citizens. We are currently practicing conservation to avoid future price hikes."
Addressing market stability, Ahmed warned that the government is taking a zero-tolerance approach toward market syndicates. "Those attempting to manipulate oil prices will face strict legal action. No concessions will be granted to anyone destabilizing the market," he asserted.
Discussing local agriculture, the MP highlighted that Sunamganj produces approximately Tk 5,000 crore worth of paddy annually. To safeguard this vital yield, he has proposed the construction of permanent dams and sluice gates to the relevant ministry. "These projects aim to prevent waterlogging and protect our crops. Construction is expected to begin gradually starting next year," he said.
Following the briefing, the MP visited a local computer training center and participated in a sewing machine distribution ceremony.
The event was attended by local administration officials, including Shantiganj Upazila Executive Officer Mohammad Shahjahan and Agriculture Officer Mohammad Ahsan Habib, alongside local political leaders.
