Monir Hossain Chowdhury, Joint Secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Department, assured the public on Thursday that Bangladesh has sufficient fuel oil reserves for the month of April.
Speaking at a press conference at the Secretariat, Chowdhury dismissed concerns over potential shortages and urged citizens to avoid panic-buying or hoarding oil. He emphasized that the country’s fuel supply remains stable and secure.
Regarding refinery operations, the Joint Secretary noted that one of the six ships recently dispatched through the Strait of Hormuz is carrying crude oil. He confirmed that the arrival of this vessel will ensure uninterrupted operations at the Eastern Refinery.
Chowdhury concluded by calling for responsible consumption, stating that fuel conservation is a national duty. He reiterated that the government remains committed to public welfare and has refrained from increasing fuel prices to avoid placing additional financial burdens on the people.
