For the first time in Noakhali, a successful hernia surgery has been performed without cutting the stomach. Experienced surgeons of Dhaka Medical College Hospital performed the operation laparoscopically at the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital on Wednesday.

The operation process was shown to the new and senior doctors of the hospital on the screen and monitor.

A live workshop has been organized in this regard by the Surgery Department of Noakhali Medical College Hospital. The convener of the Society of Endo-Laparoscopic Surgeons of Bangladesh (SELSB)

and Dhaka Professor Dr. Zahidul Haque was present as the chief guest at the workshop. He said that laparoscopic hernia without cutting the stomach at the district level has opened a new horizon. Using the knowledge gained through the workshop, surgeons of Noakhali will be able to perform such operations in the future. Kamruzzaman, along with several specialist surgeons from various medical colleges of the country, doctors and interns from the surgery department of Noakhali Medical College, were present.

The participating doctors said that in addition to enhancing the professional skills of doctors, hernia patients will no longer have to spend extra money to go to Dhaka for laparoscopic operations.

Dr. Mohammad Saif Uddin, senior consultant of the surgery department of Noakhali General Hospital, said that for the first time, laparoscopic hernia surgery has been successfully completed without cutting the stomach despite the limited capacity of the hospital. Such initiatives will continue in the future.
