An Eid reunion (Purnmilani) for young journalists and a memorial prayer service (Doa Mahfil) honoring deceased media professionals were held in Bheramara on Thursday evening.
Organized at the Sathi Food Park and Resort, the event was chaired by Lecturer Saiful Islam, President of the Khulna Divisional Press Club's Bheramara branch. Bheramara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahedur Rahman attended as the chief guest.
The program brought together local media professionals, community leaders, and the families of late journalists. Speakers at the event described journalism as the "mirror of society," emphasizing the vital role that truthful and objective reporting plays in the development of the state. They also paid deep respect to the lasting contributions of their deceased colleagues.
Special guests included former Bheramara Press Club President Jahangir Hossain Jewel, veteran journalist Ekram Hossain, Online Press Club President Kamrul Islam Mona, and several advisors and leaders from the Khulna Divisional Press Club. Family members of late journalists—including Rebecca Parvin, Beauty, and Mohammad—addressed the gathering alongside dozens of regional reporters.
Following a Holy Quran recitation by poet Tariqul Islam Tariq and moderation by journalist Atiq Hasan, Hafez Md. Abdullah led a special prayer. The congregation sought forgiveness for the departed souls and prayed for the welfare of the nation and the journalist community.
The evening concluded with a dinner, as attendees exchanged Eid greetings and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening professional harmony, ethics, and unity.
