Fertilizer Dealer Fined in Mohanganj for Price Gouging

A mobile court has fined a fertilizer dealer named Biplob Roy for selling fertilizer at an excessive price in Mohanganj, Netrokona. Assistant Commissioner Bhumi MA Quader conducted a raid on his fertilizer godown in Dakshin Daulatpur at 1 pm on Tuesday and imposed the fine. Upazila Department of Agricultural Extension officer Abdur Shakur Sadi participated in the raid.

Biplob Roy is the son of Radha Charan Saha Roy, a prominent businessman in Mohanganj Bazar. Biplob Roy is the designated fertilizer dealer of Upazila Baratoli Banihari Union.

Upazila Department of Agricultural Extension officer Abdur Shakur Sadi said that he has irregularities such as selling fertilizer at 1,050 taka out of the fixed price of 1,000 taka per item, not writing it properly in the registrar, and selling excess fertilizer ahead of time, which currently has a low stock of fertilizer. However, he has been fined for selling at an excessive price. He has been warned for other irregularities.
