Eight years after allegedly shooting and killing her younger brother, fugitive Chenora Begum, 36, has been arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-15).
She was apprehended during a raid in the Janaraghona area, near the Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila Link Road, on Thursday night, June 25. Chenora, the wife of Md. Ershad from South Janaraghona, is the elder sister of the victim.
According to RAB, the 2018 murder stemmed from a long-standing family dispute. Following the incident, a murder case was filed at the Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station. To avoid arrest, Chenora spent the last eight years hiding in various parts of the country under false names.
Acting on a court-issued arrest warrant and secret intelligence, RAB-15 tracked her movements and successfully conducted the raid.
A.M. Faruk, Assistant Director (Media) and Assistant Superintendent of Police for RAB-15, confirmed the arrest. He stated that the accused has been handed over to the Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station for further legal action.
