


The district detective police have arrested Nur Uddin, a local weapons maker under cover of a workshop in Chandraganj, Lakshmipur. He was arrested from a remote area under Chandraghona police station in Rangamati district on Tuesday (December 9) evening.
He is a resident of Jagadishpur village in Alaiyarpur union of Begumganj upazila of Noakhali. Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) of the district, Hossain Mohammad Raihan Kazemi, said in a press release that weapons were manufactured under cover of Noah Auto Traders and Engineering workshop owned by Nur Uddin in Deopara village of Chandraganj, Lakshmipur.
On December 1, the detective police conducted a raid at the factory and recovered a local weapon and a large amount of weapon-making equipment. However, Nur Uddin escaped. A case under the Arms Act was filed against him at Chandraganj police station in this incident.
On December 7, Lakshmipur detective police recovered five single-barrel guns and an LG from a bush near the grave of Safiulya in Munu Mijhi's house in Jagdishpur village of Alaiyarpur union in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali, adjacent to Chandraganj police station area.
Those weapons were also made in Nur Uddin's workshop. Police said that he was arrested in a quick raid. Legal action is being taken against him.
