


Similar to the rest of the country, the national typhoid vaccination campaign has begun in Chandanaish, Chattogram. Under this program, a total of 77,356 children will receive free injectable typhoid vaccines in the two municipalities and eight unions of the Upazila. The program was officially launched on Sunday (October 12) morning at the Kanchanabad Multipurpose High School, where the chief guest was the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Upazila Parishad Administrator, Md. Rajbi Hossain.
Dr. Rashmi Chakma, the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, chaired the event, while Senior Teacher Samir Kumar Dey served as the event’s moderator. The special guests included Dr. Deepan Debnath (MDC), Dr. Shabbir Ahmad (MCSA), Family Planning Officer Sumati Bhattacharya, and Mid-Level Academic Supervisor Bipini Chandra Ray.
In his speech, Chief Guest UNO Rajvi Hossain said that typhoid is a preventable disease. He emphasized that the government is working tirelessly to deliver the vaccine directly to the people. He also urged parents to take the necessary steps to ensure their children participate in the vaccination campaign.
Dr. Rashmi Chakma explained that through this campaign, 295 centers will be set up in educational institutions, covering 55,526 children, while 242 centers in the community will vaccinate 21,830 children. The program will target children between the ages of 9 months and 15 years. She also called for increased public awareness and cooperation from all in the successful implementation of this campaign.
Among those present at the event were Chandanaish Press Club President Mohammad Komruddin, General Secretary Khaled Rayan, Public Relations Officer Ahsan Habib, MT (IP), Mohammad Abdur Razzak, Health Officer Tarun Kumar Sarker, former Health Officer Pupu Choudhury, Kanchan Bhattacharya, Assistant Health Officer Shamsul Alam Chowdhury, Health Assistant Kazi Md. Ridwan, Family Planning Assistant Aklema Sultana, and others.
At the end of the program, the chief guest and other dignitaries symbolically administered the vaccine to a few students, officially inaugurating the vaccination campaign.
