A mobile court in Laxmipur fined three local eateries a total of Tk.10.20 lakh on Friday for selling stale food and maintaining severely unhygienic kitchens.
The joint drive was conducted in the district town by the Pure Food Court and the Bangladesh Safe Food Authority presided over by Senior Judicial Magistrate Md. Omar Faruk.
During the summary trial operation authorities penalized Nurjahan Hotel owner Saiful Alam with a Tk.5 lakh fine, Rajmahal Hotel owner Vishnu Banik with a Tk.4 lakh fine and Mohammadiya Hotel owner Nazma Begum with a Tk.1.20 lakh fine.
Inspectors discovered that all three establishments were preparing meals in filthy environments and serving rotten or stale food to unsuspecting customers. Furthermore Nurjahan Hotel faced additional charges for using Keora water in their dishes an ingredient currently banned in commercial food preparation.
District Safe Food Officer Sumadhu Chakraborty confirmed the penalties following the raid. Authorities emphasized that these joint operations will continue across the district to enforce food safety regulations and protect public health.
