A human chain protesting manipulation in the edible oil market was held in Pabna on Wednesday afternoon. The hour-long protest was organized by the Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB) Pabna District Branch in front of the Pabna Press Club.

Speakers at the event included CAB Pabna District Branch President ABM Fazlur Rahman, former Press Club General Secretary Utpal Mirza, former Reporters Unity General Secretary Kazi Mahbub Morshed Babla, Mohila Parishad District Branch President Advocate Kamrun Nahar Jolly, Press Club Finance Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, Press Club Literary and Cultural Secretary Iyad Ali Midha Pavel, Office Secretary Moniruzzaman Shipon, CAB Joint General Secretary Shafiq Al Kamal, and Pabna College teacher Dr. Alamgir Hossain.

The speakers said traders are creating an artificial shortage of edible oil to increase profits. They warned that if the government does not identify and act against this syndicate, common people will face difficulty buying products at fair prices. They urged authorities to immediately monitor and supervise the market to protect consumers.
