In a historic first FIFA announced on Friday that the 2026 World Cup will feature three separate opening ceremonies one for each host nation.
The tournament the largest in history kicks off on June 11 at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. The celebration will feature Grammy-winning pop band Maná, alongside Alejandro Fernández and Belinda. FIFA stated the event will honor Mexican heritage and blending Indigenous traditions with modern folkloric performances.
On June 12, the focus shifts to Toronto for Canada’s opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The lineup includes Alanis Morissette, Michael Bublé, Alessia Cara, William Prince and Bangladeshi-American DJ Sanjoy. A "mosaic-inspired" reimagining of the World Cup Trophy will be unveiled to celebrate Canada’s diversity.
Later that same day, the United States will launch its campaign against Paraguay in Los Angeles. Katy Perry is set to headline a high-energy spectacle featuring Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema and Tyla.
This marks only the second time the World Cup has been co-hosted, following the 2002 tournament in South Korea and Japan. However, this is the first edition to feature distinct ceremonies in every host country.
