Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman and Bhola-1 MP, Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho, stated on Sunday that the "July Charter" is currently positioning the government and the opposition toward a direct confrontation. While affirming his party’s respect for the document, he urged the opposition to move away from dismissive rhetoric.
Speaking to journalists in Bhola, Partha clarified his stance: "We accept the July Charter and respect every point within it. I have consistently stated that I hold both the Charter and the Constitution in high regard."
The remarks were made following a Milad and Doa Mahfil at the "Shanto Nir" premises in Ukilpara, marking the 18th death anniversary of his father, Naziur Rahman Manzur—former Local Government Minister and the first Mayor of Dhaka City Corporation.
Addressing the political tension surrounding the Charter, Partha noted that the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Law Minister have provided assurances regarding its implementation. He criticized the opposition’s use of the word "fraud" to describe the document, calling it unnecessarily "strong" and "confusing," and urged for a more constructive political approach.
The event was attended by local dignitaries, including Bhola Deputy Commissioner Dr. Shamim Rahman, Police Superintendent Shahidullah Kawsar, and representatives from the BNP, BJP, and other political organizations.
