Government City College in Chattogram turned into a battlefield on Tuesday following violent clashes between activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Islami Chhatra Shibir.

At least 12 people were injured as the two groups engaged in a series of chases and counter-chases, using sticks and throwing bricks.

The conflict reportedly began over the defacing of a wall graffiti. Tensions escalated throughout the day, peaking around 4:00 PM in front of the college campus. The violence forced college authorities to postpone all classes and scheduled examinations indefinitely to ensure student safety.

Witnesses noted a delayed police response during the initial phase of the riot, though additional forces later brought the situation under control.

Vice-Principal Jasim Uddin confirmed that the administrative decision to suspend academic activities was a direct result of the unrest. Police remain deployed on the campus to prevent further violence.
