Sharaf Uddin Azad Sohel, vice-president of Ramgati Upazila Awami League, has filed nomination papers for Lakshmipur-4 (Ramgati-Kamalnagar) constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election. He collected the nomination papers from Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nilufa Yasmin Nipa at around 12:30 pm on Thursday (December 18).

Sharaf Uddin Azad Sohel is the vice-president of Ramgati Upazila Awami League and participated in the elections as an associate of the fascists in the 17 years of Awami League and occupied the post of Upazila Chairman twice in a row. Showing his power, Sohel attacked, arrested and tortured BNP and Jamaat leaders and activists in Ramgati for 17 years while maintaining relations with the Awami League. After the fall of the Awami League government, Sohel was in hiding for a long time. Suddenly, he collected nomination papers as an independent candidate in Lakshmipur-4 (Ramgati-Kamalnagar) constituency. There is a storm of criticism in the political and social arena over the collection of nomination forms of an identified Awami League leader.

Ramgati Upazila Awami League Vice President Sharaf Uddin Azad Sohel called his mobile phone several times to get his statement on this matter, but he did not answer the phone.

Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nilufa Yasmin Nipa said that he is new to this upazila. He will look into the matter after finding out the information.
