Shahbagh Protest Primary Teachers Demand Immediate Posting

Candidates recommended for assistant teacher positions in government primary schools have launched a continuous sit-in at Shahbagh demanding immediate job placements.

Gathering early Sunday (August 2) near the Dhaka University Central Library the protesters attempted to march toward the Shahbagh intersection but were intercepted by police. They subsequently staged their demonstration outside the Shahbagh Police Station and the National Museum.

Carrying banners and chanting slogans candidates from across Bangladesh demanded immediate school postings in accordance with the Recruitment Rules-2025.

The protest coincides with a new government directive. On the same day the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education announced that the finally selected candidates for the "Assistant Teacher Recruitment-2025" will officially join their respective District Primary Education Offices on October 1.

Despite the government outlining a clear timeline the protesting teachers argue that their appointments are overdue. They maintain that their placements should be granted immediately and have vowed to continue their sit-in until their demands are resolved.
