The National Consensus Commission (NCC) has issued a strong rebuttal against recent claims suggesting the body spent an exorbitant Taka 83 crore on hospitality, labeling the allegations as "entirely fabricated and false" and a "planned propaganda."
The NCC, through a statement from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, provided precise financial details to prevent public confusion: Total Budget (FY 2024–25 & 2025–26): Taka 7,23,31,026. Total Expenditure (as of October 31, 2025): Taka 1,71,31,126 (23.46% of total allocation). Actual Hospitality Expenditure: Taka 45,77,685 (significantly less than the Taka 63 lakh initially allocated for hospitality)
The majority of the hospitality costs were incurred during extensive engagements, including meetings and discussions with political parties, civil society members, professionals, and the commission's own meetings.
The NCC stated that the campaign claiming the Taka 83 crore expenditure is a "concerted and planned attempt to undermine" the commission. They highlighted their commitment to maximum transparency, citing daily media reports, free access for journalists, regular press briefings, and, notably, the live broadcast of political party discussions a first in the country's history.
The commission urged the "unscrupulous quarters" spreading the malicious propaganda to immediately admit their faults and seek apology.
