Footpaths across the capital's northern areas must be cleared immediately after Eid-ul-Azha, the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has announced.
The city authority warned that any hawkers illegally occupying walkways after the holidays will face strict eviction drives and legal punishment.
DNCC officials clarified that hawkers are currently being allowed to display and sell their wares on the footpaths strictly on humanitarian grounds to support their livelihood during the busy pre-Eid shopping season.
However, this flexibility will end immediately after the festival. The corporation stated that the upcoming enforcement is a key part of its ongoing campaign to free city sidewalks from illegal occupation and ensure safe, unobstructed movement for pedestrians.
