Major Reshuffle in Administration: 8 Officials Given New Responsibilities

The government has reassigned eight officials holding the ranks of Deputy Secretary, Senior Assistant Secretary and Assistant Secretary to various ministries, divisions and administrative offices.

The transfers and postings were announced through separate notifications issued on Monday (June 9) by the Ministry of Public Administration and the relevant authorities with the approval of the President.

According to the notification, three Deputy Secretaries from the BCS (Administration) cadre who were assigned to the Local Government Division on May 10 did not join their new workplaces within the specified period. They have now been instructed to leave their current positions and join their new postings by June 11, 2026.

The order states that if they fail to join within the deadline, they will be automatically released from their current positions on the afternoon of June 11.

Among the transferred officials, Md. Didarul Alam, Deputy Director of the Regional Public Administration Centre in Chattogram, has been appointed Deputy Director (Local Government) at the Feni Deputy Commissioner's Office.

Dr. Md. Sheikh Sadek, a Deputy Secretary in the Health Services Division, has been transferred as Deputy Director (Local Government) at the Noakhali Deputy Commissioner's Office.

Miju Ferdousi Begum, Deputy Director at the Noakhali Deputy Commissioner's Office, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cumilla City Corporation.

In a separate order, Md. Firoz Mahmud, Deputy Secretary of the Local Government Division, has been transferred to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education as Deputy Secretary.

Meanwhile, Nayan Kumar Rajbangshi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Senior Assistant Secretary) at the Chuadanga Deputy Commissioner's Office, has been transferred as Senior Assistant Secretary to the Ministry of Railways.

Three non-cadre Assistant Secretaries have also received new postings. Md. Mohiuddin Shamim, Assistant Director of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Heritage Conservation and Research Centre, has been posted as Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.

Md. Jahangir Alam, currently serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Ministry of Public Administration, has been appointed Assistant Secretary in the same ministry.

Md. Ekramul Haque, Assistant Director of the Compulsory Primary Education Implementation and Monitoring Unit, has been transferred as Assistant Secretary to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
