13th National Parliament Opens First Budget Session

The 13th National Parliament opened its first budget session at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, chaired by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.

This marks the first budget session for the BNP-led government since taking office following the February 12 national elections.

According to parliamentary sources, Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury is scheduled to present the proposed national budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year on June 11.

President Md. Shahabuddin formally convened the session on May 7, exercising his authority under Article 72(1) of the Constitution.

The parliament's inaugural session concluded on April 30, during which 94 bills were passed across 25 working days.
